I am looking for a supplier if quality ststic cling vinyl in the uk, it must be very clear, it is to be used as screen protectors for pda's, mobile phones, personal media players etc, i have been looking at samples sent from sign makers but they seem to not be 100% clear and the resulting display is not clear and a low quality screen protector.

Try usein Shock powder. Shock is concentrated, usually unstabilized chlorine. It's used in a pool to quickly get the chlorine residual up to hammer organics ( like the ';greasy film or green'; you have). Normally, if you're pool is clear, you use it once a week. If it's cloudy or green, you double or even triple your weekly dose depending on how bad the water clarity is. Shock, being unstabilized, goes to work fast but also gets knocked out of the pool quickly because it has no defense against ultra violet rays from the sun.I have a 14' x 28' in-ground vinyl liner pool. i own a pool company.first clean your filter then brush walls and bottom then pour in algeacide walking around edge of pool save some to pour in skimmer next to pump.wait 24 hours.then shock pool heavy by completely dissolving chlorine in bucket of water.pour in pool. clean filter.wait 24 hours.pool may be cloudy,so pour in water clairifier just like you did with algeacide,save some to pour in same skimmer do all of this with pool running by fourth day pool should be clearing.if you need more help jldailey2000@yahoo.com
You need to take a soft nylon brush and scrub the liner. This is bacteria or algae building up on it and can be removed.

If you cannot see the bottom of your pool because it is really cloudy, you need to do what is called a ';Drop-Out';. Where you put a coagullate chemical that bonds all of the smaller particles together along with a double or a triple dose of chlorine shock to your pool. Turn off your filter and Wait up to 48 hours until you see everything settle to the bottom of the pool, then vacuum it out very, very, slowly to waste/drain.
During this process you need to make sure EVERY Day that your chlorine does not drop below a 3.0, and then after clearing keep it above a 3.0 for one week thereafter and after vacuuming filter 24hrs/day until crystal clear.Does anyone have any advice on getting a green pool clear again. First you'll have to get a water sample and take it to your local pool supply store, they can easily analyze it for ya.
Next they'll most likely tell you to get some algecide, and tell you to over chlorinate your pool. You're definetly goanna have to use some elbow grease and go scrub your pool, so get your pole out, attach your brush to the end, and give it a good scrubbing. Since you have vinyl, you're goanna have to go easy. If you have a automatic pool vac, let it run for 24 hours. One other thing too, when was the last time your filter was serviced? You need to get samples of the water and take it to a pool store - make sure you tell them it has a vinyl liner. We had that problem. You'll need to get the pool testing kit. They will tell you exactly what you need. You're going to need more than one thing.

You need an algae treatment that contains Copper....but you must wash blonde hair with the special shampoo or you'll have green hair with this in your pool....It will not allow algae to live in that environment...Good Luck.

What are the ';outgassing'; products when O2 is run through clear, flexible, vinyl tubing?
Since the manufacturer advertises the tubing as clear, flexible, vinyl tubing, I assume it to be plasticized PVC. When I change tubing it takes 48 to 96 hours to ';passivate'; the new tubing. During this time I experience severe headaches, irritated eyes, sinuses, and throat, and heightened anxiety and irritability. After about 4 days, this ';newness'; odor and the symptoms dissipate.
The only hard data I have on this process is that the O2 flowrate is 4 L/min. at 23 C and 1 atm, and that the tubing is 3/16 in. OD (probably 1/8 in. ID) and 30 ft long. (about 3 mm ID and 10 m long)
Is it possible with this scant data to estimate the quantity and type of gases being produced? What are the ';outgassing'; products when O2 is run through clear, flexible, vinyl tubing?
Am I correct in assuming that you have emphysema and use this tubing as part of your pulmonary system? If so, this is a medical problem, and I wd not screw around with answers you get here from people with GOK what expertise (or lack thereof). I am an expert polymer chemist but wd not presume to advise you in this possibly serious matter. After all, you cannot be certain that 'outgassing' is the problem.
I wd suggest that you consult:
1. Your doctor, who shd be able to point you in the right direction after you describe your symptoms.
2. The manufacturer of your equipment, who has very likely been exposed to this problem before.
3. There are many types of flexible tubing available, not all plastcized PVC, and not all vinyls are plasticized. For general info you might start with http://en.wikipedia.org. Plug Vinyl tubing in the search box for a start, then Tygon Tubing, then go on from there.
4. The Saint-Gobain (manufacturer of Tygon) website offers much info on their products...and a phone call to them could easily solve your problem.
Bottom line: When you have a medical problem, start by consulting your DOCTOR.

Sorry, I had no intention of belittling you...but some young/bewildered/unknowleged people use this site. Glad to see that you keep your doctor informed.
The relatively mild conditions you state are not likely to affect greatly either of the main components of plasticized vinyl: PVC and the plasticizer (if it IS plasticized).
But PVC CAN be oxydized, replacing some Cl on the polymer with O, liberating HCl and other Cl compounds...in very small amounts. Also the PVC might contain traces of unreacted vinyl chloride, a v irritating gas.
And the plasticizer MIGHT be oxydized...eg the earliest and cheapest one is dibutyl phthalate, which might revert in small part to butyl alcohol and phthalic acid. Also DBP is in itself v sl volatile, and may contain traces of unreacted BA and PA. But if your manufacturer knows the purpose of the tubing it is unlikely that this system was used...much safer alternatives are available.
All-in-all much more info is needed in order to make any educated guess. I wd suggest, if you want to pursue this, that you follow 3. and 4. above. If you plug Plasticizer into wiki's search box you can gain some idea of the complexity involved here. Where Can I find Slip-On Clear Vinyl Book Covers?
I have created my own calendar for 2009 and am going to bind it somehow (either coil, wire, etc). I already know I'm going to use the hard binding/presentation covers to cover the regular pages, but I also got to thinking about durability. Those hard covers don't always last a long time (corners dented, etc) or project from water spots (ex. rain)SO, what I'm wondering is where can I find Clear Vinyl Book Covers? I want to buy clear vinyl floor covering which i can put on carpet that i recently had professional cleaned?
I want to sell my house and the carpet was very dirty, so one of my relatives referred me to a professional carpet cleaner which he had before clean his house and he really liked his work. So my relative referred me to this carpet cleaner, and he cleaned the carpet very well. Now that the carpet was clean, i decided to buy some type of see through roll sheets which i put on the floor, but this type is supposed to be ont he carpet only for about 40 days, soon i have to take it off. I don't want to get my carpet dirty, so i went to walmart because i heard from another relative that you can just buy these type of see through vinyl rolls, i went there and checked it out, they don't have enough to cover my first floor and its expensive, i was wondering if anybody would know where i could purchase just SEE through vinyl rolls which i intend people to walk on ALOT, as i have a big familyI want to buy clear vinyl floor covering which i can put on carpet that i recently had professional cleaned?
As a professional carpet cleaner, I would say that it is not recommened to put plastic over you carpet...your carpets are like any other fabric and they need to breath. Not to mention that those plastics are bad stuff...most emit a horrible spell that is actually bad for you.
If you are just trying to keep your carpets clean, then I would personally and professionally say 1 dont let anyone wear shoes in the house...have a mat outside or by the door and MAKE everyone take shoes off 2. vaccuum at least once per day with a good vacuum. 4. put small rugs out at areas where you come off of other types of flooring ex. if you kitchen is tile, and you walk off of that into your living room, then place a small rug there...it catches a lot and 5. dont allow any food or drink on the carpet areas but if your dining areas is carpeted, then get a cheap areas rug to put ontop of the carpet. make sure it is soft on the bottom of the rug because the hard backed ones can damage your carpet.
We also suggest getting your carpets cleaned professionally at least every year... to remove any build up, dust mites and allergins. A clean carpet will last longer. Most stores like Walmart, Meijer, Kmart sell clear floor runners that are made of a heavy duty rubber. These are picky on the bottom to prevent slipping. From the sounds of things, you are looking for something clear that will cover the whole floor and not just the high traffic areas. Most people just cover the high traffic areas. Otherwise, my suggestion is to get floor runners that are like pieces of carpet. These can also be purchased from the above mentioned stores or your local carpet store may have scraps you can use.

I would get the whole doggy door. Petsmart is a good place but don't just get the rubber. Looking to make a panel about 4x3 ft using vinyl tiles (18x18';) and was wondering if there was a way to coat the top so that it seems to make the panel seem like one piece and still show the texture. Certainly you can. You might be able to pull it off with polyurethane. Otherwise I would go to a lumber yard or try a tile supplier. You may need to call around using the yellow pages but I am sure there is someone out there who has the ticket for you.

1. Mold was on the house at 1 time and left for a long enough period of time to fade the area around it. Submit warranty claim on the most faded spot. I doubt mold is a good excuse for warranty replace, but handle as you wish...

I have an 18 foot by 4 foot vinyl pool, and I am having problems keeping it clear. I also can not detect any cholorine in the pool, using the test kit with the drops. I put a 1 inch chlorine tablet in the filter and leave my pump running 24/7. I also have a cholorine floater and I currently have about 7-8 1 inch tablets in that. There is a faint trace smell of chlorine while swimming and it burns your eyes. What do I need to do? Which laser jet printer is best for printing clear vinyl adhesive paper for small decals?
Most any laserjet printer will work fairly well. The best kind would probably be one that had a way to run the paper through the printer in a straight path rather than have it make turns internally, this will help keep the decals from peeling off inside the printer when it makes turns in the paper path. Make sure to use paper stock that is rated for laser printers to avoid any fusing problems and follow any of the paper manufacturers recommendations about setting the printer's fuser settings if any. Newer printers have fuser settings just for label stock so that the temperature settings are appropriate.

Can anyone give some good advive on how best to apply clear vinyl film over art work and over coloured vinyl art? I can generally get it bubble free, but theres s sort of foggy hazeiness to the finished product, Any advice?

The only time you should apply vinyl wet, is when it is going ontop of vinyl. Applying it wet to artwork will most likely ruin the work intself. The easiet wat to apply vinyl is like this.
#1 put application tape over the vinyl face (i'm sure you do that already)
# 2 get in lined up wher you want it
#3 tape it down on all sides so it wont move.
#4 put one piece of tape vertically in the middle bottom and top of the piece of vinyl you want to apply.
#5 untape the whole left side of the vinyl (leaving the middle pieces on) And fold it up like you were closing a book.
#6 peel the backing down and cutt it off.
#7 starting at the middle, make long strokes going up and down, moving your way out towards the left. And use a squiggie not a credit card or something. make sure you are over lapping the previous stroke a little bit
#8 do the same thing to the right side, only this time you can remove all the tape hold the vinyl in place, cause the hole left side is now acting as an anchor, and wont let it move.
#9 GO SLOW!!! DON'T RUSH
If you are applying vinyl over textured surfaces, use a heat gun to melt the vinyl a little bit and use your fingures to work it in the way you want it.Tips on effective application of clear vinyl ?

How to make canvas and clear vinyl shades?

How do I get laminate flooring to work when my steel door can barely ';clear'; vinyl flooring?
I'm looking at putting laminate flooring in the kitchen but our steel door leading out to our garage can barely ';clear'; the current vinyl flooring when it opens, so I know it wouldn't be able to open with a taller laminate floor. theres a few ways it can be done...try to cut or grind the bottom of the door..or make the door open in the opposite direction...you might even be able to raise the door up by adjusting the frame work.......i really need to see the door to make a construtive answer....good luck with it...dont give up..

But, when I was remodeling a house, the guy who installed our steel-clad (wood core) double doors got the tolerances too tight and the bottom of the door kept sticking on the threshold. Even after he removed the weather strip from underneath the door.
I insisted that he install the door with a weather strip attached. Our entryway is new hardwood, and I didn't want rain to blow in and ruin the wood without a weather strip.
So, the guy removed the door and trimmed off about 1/4 inch from the bottom of the door (I don't know what he used to do this - I wasn't there). He then installed a cap-type of weatherstrip assembly that went around the whole bottom of the door. Since it wrapped around and screwed into both sides of the door, it hides any flaws he might have made while cutting the door.
You really do have to cut off the bottom of the door for clearance. Then the threshold needs to be raised for the door to seal. The prior answer has it right. It's much easier than lowering the floor.
