I am working on a biology project, and I need to make holes in some clear vinyl tubing that I have that is 3/8 in. x 1/4 in. x 10 ft. Is the tubing to small for that to work, or is it possible? And how?
Thanks in advance! Is it possible to make holes in clear vinyl tubing?
If you are talking about an open bore hole then you can make one but you are going to have to fabricate a bore. ask your teacher about cork bores and he may be able to help.Is it possible to make holes in clear vinyl tubing?
You can poke holes in it with a nail, sure. I've poked holes with a nail in 5/8'; garden hose, and jammed in 1/4'; aquarium tubing often. Your 3/8'; tubing is a little smaller, but I think it will still work. What you are doing is similar to how drip irrigation works.
If you heat up the appropriately sized implement, it will easily melt a hole in your tubing. Experiment with different nails, pieces of wire, etc.
Always wear gloves when working with hot metals.
